CHARACTER INFOCharacter Name: Lucina
Character Canon: Fire Emblem
History: HereAU History: Lucina was born as the daughter of Lord Chrom, the ruler of the Ylisse, a city-state even further west than Caldera. Life in her early years was peaceful, with doting parents who cared for her and taught her the skills she would need for when she eventually took their place, and in her father's case specifically how to properly wield a sword. She even bonded with a Honedge she named Noble, who dedicated himself to protecting the young heir.
Years passed, and Lucina grew into a young woman, kind and helpful, if a little isolated. Then Gigas invaded. Ylisse fought back, but quickly lost in the face of Gigas's superior firepower. As a last gambit, Lucina and her family fled in an attempt to seek allies to help retake the city. In the chaos, the family was separated, and any hope they might've had retaking Ylisse was shattered as Gigas razed it to the ground.
Lucina, believing her parents to have died, wandered with Noble for days, and in her depression-fueled fugue might've died of starvation had a Scatterbug not found the pair. The Scatterbug, who Lucina named Grace, helped forage for food as Noble attempted to bring Lucina out of her fugue. It might not have been successful, had the trio not come across a group of refugees from Ylisse who'd managed to escape the carnage that befell the city. Depression gave way to determination. These were Lucina's people, and her duty was to protect them. Now with a mission, she led the group east, hoping to find a new home for them, using Noble as her blade in order to defend them.
Eventually, the group found Caldera. Finding out Union had both held Gigas at bay and forced them into a truce, Lucina decided to lead her band of refugees to the city.
Canon Personality: Lucina's personality is largely shaped by both the timeline she came from and her mission once she makes her way back to the in-game present. Coming back from a disaster of apocalyptic proportions in which both of her parents were killed and dedicating her entire being to averting that timeline has left her very serious, with a tendency to take on massive amounts of responsibility, rarely willing to smile early on in the story, and somewhat socially stunted.
Which isn't to say she's humorless, or incapable of relating to others. In fact, she's friendly, and more than willing to help out others, including with the kind of grunt work most nobles would think was beneath them. It's more that she speaks somewhat formally, is generally the last person to get a joke, and has been known to take the most silly comments and attempts to gather souvenirs completely seriously. She's also not really open with people she doesn't know well, but is more emotional around people she cares about.
She tends to look at Chrom through the lens of how she knew him when she was a young child, and as a result places him on a pedestal, and will do anything to keep him from harm.
Afraid of not measuring up, or worrying people, she's been known to severely overwork herself, and not mention moderate injuries.
She believes fate can be changed, or at least forces herslef to think that way
She shows a childlike enthusiasm for idle pursuits like shopping for dresses with her mother, a byproduct of growing up in a world where that was impossible. Also as a byproduct of that, she's completely incapable of picking out non-tacky clothing.
AU Deviation: First and foremost, she's not a time-traveller bent on averting an apocalypse. Her goals here center on defeating Gigas and restoring Ylisse. Her parents aren't dead, but she believes them to be, and she knew them for much longer than her canon counterpart. Also, she wasn't a combatant in the battle that destroyed Ylisse. She's more willing to smile from the outset too, and a little more open emotionally, having been around survivors for a while, and still having Noble and Grace with her.
She's never disguised herself as Marth, nor does she have the mask she used to do so.
As for the whole giant roach issue, she doesn't really have any problem with Bug-types.
She does not have Falchion, but instead wields her Honedge as her primary weapon.
Canon Abilities: While she can become many classes, and would actually be able to swap into the most out of any character provided her mother is the Avatar, I'm sticking solely with the Lord->Great Lord classes. Aside from being an extremely skilled sword user, as part of the Lord class she gains the ability of Double Strike+, increasing her chances to strike twice in a turn, Charm, which ups the accuracy and evasion ability of her allies, and Aether, which both recovers HP equal to half the damage done to an enemy and halves their defense and resistance as well. Should she be promoted to Great Lord, she gains the ability to use lances and Rightful King, which increases the rate of activation of skills by 10%
As for her sword, Parallel Falchion, it can be used to recover 20 HP, and is highly effective against dragon and fell dragon units.
Enlightened Abilities: Lucina is a Fighting/Normal-type Enlightened with the ability Mastery of Battle.
Initially, she'll be able to use Counter, Cut, Fury Cutter, Feint, Slash, Agility, and Swords Dance.
During her first evolution, she'll learn Air Slash, Night Slash, Vacuum Wave, Recover, and Quick Guard.
Her final evolution grants her the ability to use X-Scissor, King's Shield, and Sacred Sword.
Starter Pokémon: Honedge and Scatterbug
Notes/Special Considerations: If you have special things you want to do with your character that can potentially impact the plot such as giving them an ancient power from a clan thought long extinct, here is the place to put it. It's suggested that you contact the moderators beforehand to hash things out if you want to do anything dramatic. You may also PM or IM one of the moderators beforehand if you wish to get the section pre-approved or ask questions on what is and is not allowed.
SAMPLES(NOTE: You may link a previous entry or thread, including testrun or musebox threads (but NOT Dear Mun), for one or both samples. However, we want to see the character in the setting of Brave New World and specifically in their AU for at least one sample.)
First-Person:[The Warp Band video reveals a young woman with a Honedge floating next to her, and a Scatterbug on her shoulder]
Hello there. My name is Lucina of Ylisse. I wish to introduce myself, and thank Union for taking in my people. We've been without a place to call home since Gigas destroyed our city, and it's wonderful to finally see that change. I know I'm not in much of a position to ask anything of anyone here, but I hope you'll treat them as well as you'd treat your own people. It hasn't been an easy time for them.
In any case, thank you so much for what you've done so far. I know my parents would have loved to meet all, were they still with us.
[The smile she gives is a sad one, and the Honedge frets a bit.]
Lady Lucina?I'm fine Noble. You don't need to worry about me. Again, thank you Union.
Third-Person: 6 questions answered.
If desired, you may answer some of the following questions. The questions must be answered in-character, as if they are being asked by a teacher, mentor, or superior. If your character is lying in their answer, please identify it as a lie, the purpose of these is to get an idea of how you will play your character in lieu of the other sample options. 4 questions answered can be used as a substitute for a first-person sample, and 6 questions answered can be used as a substitute for a third-person sample. Both samples may be replaced in this manner. If the character doesn't say enough in their answer, we may request a few more answers for an acceptable sample.
-What do you look for in the Pokémon with whom you bond? A willingness to do good, to help those in times of need, and a desire to defend others. I couldn't bond with Pokemon who wasn't willing to fight, knowing they would likely be forced to if they did travel with me.
-When encountering a rare and powerful Pokémon, what is most important? Researching it, bonding with it, or defeating it? Why? I suppose bonding with it, should it be willing to join me, and it's desires mesh well with my own. But should it be attacking those who haven't harmed it, defeating it would be more important.
-In your eyes, what is absolutely unforgivable? Attacking a peaceful city, and razing it to the ground when they were not willling to bend to another's tyranny. Gigas has much to answer for.
-What would you say is your greatest duty, and why? To protect what remains of my people, defeat Gigas, and restore Ylisse. It's my duty as the last of my family.
-No Enlightened chooses their abilities - and not all are Enlightened. What type abilities would you most desire to manifest and why? I'be inverse really thought about it, to be honest. My current one are more than enough to protect the people under my care, and I use them well. I suppose I would enjoy flight, but that's nothing more than an idle thought. Even if it would be fun to see the world from the air...
-What do you feel your role in Union is? I...don't know. My people have been brought to Union safely, and while I do know what my future duties in respect to my own city and to Gigas are, I'm not entirely sure what to do in the meantime. I suppose my role right now is figuring out what my role will be.
